WebApr 28, 2024 · I'm hoping to drive up somewhere highway 108 or highway 4 tomorrow to do some camping (dispersed or in a site). The goal is to do some hiking tomorrow and some climbing the next day. I have a highway 108 guidebook, but haven't been up that way in probably 15 years and don't know where to start. WebLake Alpine Campground. The Lake Alpine campground is spread along the shores of the lake, just west of the boat launch ramp. the campground is usually open from mid-June until mid-October. At an elevation of 7,300 feet it enjoys mild summer weather. Directions: Lake Alpine is about 50 miles east of Angels Camp on Highway 4. Fees: $27 per night.
WebOct 20, 2024 · Total distance from the highway to the river is 8 miles, with the last 3 being difficult. It takes about 2 hours to make the trip one-way. Apparently now the upper portion of the trail is closed with a locked gate :(Corral Hollow Trail: Located on the north side of Hwy. 4, just west of Bear Valley is the Gettin'Off 4WD club's former Adopt-a-Trail. WebLocated on Forest Service Road 2050, this dispersed camping area provides two sites, each with a hardened tent site, a fire ring and a picnic table. The sites are within walking distance from Staney Creek where you’ll find excellent fishing.
